Private Hire - General Information
Private hire vehicles must be pre- booked through a private hire operator.(DARTMOOR SAFARIS )
Dartmoor Safaris holds a full private hire license whereas most Airport Transfer Transfer companies do not.Most hold a restricted license which only allow for them to do Airports or Docks transfers only Any other type of work undertaken taken by these companies would be un-lawfull and you may not be insured.
Don,t take my word for it ,if unsure check with
Plymouth City Council Taxi Department.
Failure to book in advance would invalidate insurance in place therefore a private hire cannot be hailed or flagged down in any circumstances.
It can be dangerous to use an unbooked or un -plated private hire vehicle, it is not operating under the control of their operator and may even be bogus. If you were a victim of a crime it would be hard to find the driver.
What are the safeguards ?
All drivers licensed by the Plymouth City Council taxi and private hire licensing section have been fully vetted, including the complete Records Bureau disclosure form.All vehicles and drivers have undergone stringent tests for road safety and the vehicles road worthiness before a license can be issued.
